Did the Pilgrims eat turkey, and stuffing, and pumpkin pie?<br /><br />No, that came from Sara Josepha Hale, a 19th century journalist who published in her style piece recipes for turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pies.<br /><br />She also wrote hundreds of letters to President Lincoln lobbying for a national day of thanks.<br /><br />So, in reality, it seems that the modern thanksgiving we celebrate today was invented by a 19th century journalist and not the Pilgrims in 1621.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
